Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement issued at the time of booking or when you pick up your vehicle. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, charges, and your obligations related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To rent a vehicle, you must be a minimum of 21 years old, although age restrictions may differ depending on the vehicle. Drivers under 25 may incur additional fees. A valid full driving licence suitable for the vehicle category is required, along with identification and proof of your current address. You must also provide valid payment details and a security deposit, as well as comply with any other conditions outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Terms
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Skegness office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and any security deposit are usually required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include applicable VAT. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and promptly report any pre-existing damage. You will complete and sign a vehicle condition report to document its state. When returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as when collected, aside from normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged as necessary. Ensure that the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as it was collected; refueling charges will apply for any discrepancies. Late returns could result in additional fees, so please inform us if you anticipate a delay. You will be accountable for any parking tickets, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental, along with a processing fee.
5. Coverage and Responsibility
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance, with full coverage details and excess amounts outlined in the Rental Agreement. Optional insurance options may be offered to help lower your financial exposure. It is prudent to review these options closely. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess unless you have additional coverage. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance status.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Use of Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities or purposes. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or other dangerous driving practices. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting to others or allowing unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should not be used for purposes it is not designed for, nor should passenger or weight limits be exceeded. Driving outside the agreed geographical boundaries requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
8. Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by law in England and Wales, Car Hire Skegness will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the amount paid for your rental in the past year. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or fraudulent conduct.
Legal Framework
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be addressed in the courts of England and Wales.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes will take effect immediately upon being posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
